Do you know how important it is to wear a good fitting bra and how much difference it can make? read on to find out! Lots of ladies I meet seem to struggle to find “the one” and I often hear a lot of comments such as, “I can never find one that suits my shape”, “no-one makes anything in my size” or “every bra I try on isn’t comfortable, especially underwired ones”. If you go and get fitted professionally (and by this, I mean a qualified independent bra fitter, not just nipping to a High Street store) we WILL be able to help you. There are so many brands out there now that cater for all shapes and sizes and there are so many more sizes and styles now compared to even 10 years ago. For example, I stock from an A cup to a K cup and a 28 back to a 44 back – that’s a lot of sizes! An independent bra fitter (like myself) will know their stock inside-out. We meet with the brands to source beautiful stock, fit the bras all day long, know how they all differ, and we will know what style will suit each body shape, just by looking at you and asking a few questions. So why is it so important to have a good fitting bra? Firstly, a good fitting bra can make the world of difference to your posture. The main problem I usually come across during most bra fittings is the underband being too loose and starting to ride up the back. The underband is the most important part of a bra, and it needs to be nice and firm to lift and support the bust. If the band is too loose and the bust is also quite heavy, this will cause your bust to droop forward, and over time affect your posture and may even cause some discomfort. If your band is too loose, it’s likely that your bra straps are therefore taking all the weight of the bust, and may dig into your shoulders, or even start to cause neck pain. Secondly, a good fitting bra can literally make or break an outfit! Your underwear is the foundation to ensure that your clothes sit nicely. If you have a beautiful dress for a special occasion but a badly fitting bra underneath – it can really change how the dress will sit – and not in a good way! A good fitting bra should lift your bust upwards and forwards, therefore giving you a great silhouette and make your clothes look even better! As I mentioned before, if the band of a bra is too loose, you will most likely need to go smaller in the back. With the way that bra fitting works, this will automatically mean your cup size will increase – but this doesn’t mean you have got bigger! If anything, it’s likely you will lose about 2 to 4 inches around your middle and when you out your top on over a new, good fitting bra, you will have dramatically changed your silhouette! See the photos below for some examples of the before and afters I have had at Bra Boss HQ. This lady came to me wearing a 38F and walked out as a 34H looking amazing (and we both agreed that she actually looked smaller than before!) Lastly, and I’d say the most important reason you should have a good fitting bra is to feel comfortable and confident. There’s nothing worse that pulling your bra straps up all day or worrying that you have breast tissue spilling out of your cup. A good fitting bra should sit firmly, but comfortably and it should lift and support you nicely. I specialise in Sports, Maternity and Mastectomy bras as these are all areas where I feel you need that extra support to feel confident and able to get on with your day – without worrying about your bra. When you are exercising, the last thing you want to be worrying about is holding down your breasts or feeling like you must keep adjusting your sports bra. The same goes for breastfeeding – as a new mum, you have a hundred other things to juggle and think about, so it’s important that your nursing bra is fitting you well and doing its job properly. There have been plenty of ladies who have come to see me who have quite openly said they hate the way they look, hate how their clothes sit, or that they have “horrible breasts” and have given up trying to find nice underwear. All these women walked out of Bra Boss HQ wearing a completely different size to what they came in wearing. Some of the transformations have been amazing! The best part of my job is that I can help ladies like this to feel so much more confident about their bodies and their breasts. Sometimes all it takes is a slight tweak in the size and choosing the right style for them that suits their breast shape and it can make such a huge difference! So, if you think it might be time to get your bras checked over and would like a bra transformation, please do get in touch with me and I am more than happy to help! Joanna x

Certain types of insects and larvae feed on clothing and textiles, such as the black carpet beetle and clothing moths. To deter such pests, clothes may be stored in cedar-lined closets or chests, or placed in drawers or containers with materials having pest repellent properties, such as lavender or mothballs.
